What is the Port and Wine Experience?

It is an immersive experience about Portuguese wine, from the vineyard and production process to Portugal’s different wine regions, aromas, flavours and wine tasting.

How long does the visit take?

We recommend allowing at least 1 hr 30 mins to make the most of the experience.

Is wine tasting included?

Yes. The ticket includes a tasting of three Portuguese wines: one red, one white and one Port.

Do I need to book in advance?

Advance booking is recommended.

Do I need to know anything about wine?

No. The experience has been designed for both beginners and those with more knowledge of wine.

Is the Port and Wine Experience the same as visiting the Port wine cellars?

No. They are different yet complementary experiences. At the Port and Wine Experience, you discover Portuguese wine in a broad sense, from its regions and grape varieties to the different styles of wine and the diversity that sets Portugal apart. In the cellars, you step into the world of a Port wine house: you explore the ageing spaces, surrounded by pipes and large wooden vats, and learn about its history, wines and the methods that form part of the Port wine tradition. One experience gives you an overview of Portuguese wine; the other takes you to the place where Port wine ages.

Can I visit both the Port and Wine Experience and the Port wine cellars?

Yes, and it is an excellent way to discover more about wine. First, explore the world of Portuguese wine. Then, discover the history of a Port wine house.
